Diddy Kong Racing
Rare's 1997 Nintendo 64 kart racer, where you could race in a car, a hovercraft or a plane, and a full adventure mode was built around the racing. Some reviewers said it beat Mario Kart 64.
Donkey Kong Country
The SNES game whose pre-rendered graphics looked so impossibly '3D' that kids begged for a turn just to see it. Donkey Kong and Diddy rolled through mine carts and jungle levels in a technical showcase that felt like the future.
Killer Instinct
The loudest cabinet in the arcade. Rare's 1994 fighter had pre-rendered graphics and a double health bar, but what everyone remembers is the announcer roaring "C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!" — the line a whole generation learned to yell at each other.
