Cory in the House

The That's So Raven spinoff that moved Cory Baxter into the White House — and, a decade later, got crowned the internet's favorite ironic 'best anime ever.' Kyle Massey ran get-rich-quick schemes out of the presidential kitchen for two seasons of peak Disney Channel.

When That's So Raven ended, Disney Channel spun off Raven's little brother: Cory in the House premiered January 12, 2007, relocating Cory Baxter (Kyle Massey) and his dad Victor (Rondell Sheridan) from San Francisco to Washington, D.C., after Victor lands the job of White House executive chef. Cory schemes his way through the residence alongside laid-back rich kid Newt (Jason Dolley) and Meena (Maiara Walsh), while the fictional President Martinez's young daughter Sophie (Madison Pettis) steals scenes on cue.

The show ran two seasons and 34 episodes, ending September 12, 2008 — a short run even by Disney Channel standards, wrapped up amid the 2007–08 writers' strike era. It left behind one of the era's catchiest theme songs and a Nintendo DS tie-in game nobody thought about twice at the time.

Then the internet got involved. Years after cancellation, 'Cory in the House is the best anime' became one of the defining absurdist memes of the 2010s — complete with fake subs, AMVs, and glowing reviews for the DS game. The joke has never fully died: a fresh meme wave in early 2026 sent so many five-star user ratings at the DS game that it briefly ranked among the highest user-rated games in Metacritic's history.
